| Excerpts from my 11 Track Album „What’s Next?“ |

What is a good singer without a good producer? For my debut I chose to travel to meet new producers, some of whom I only knew as compilation neighbors. My Album is going to be a mix of styles because for the past 15 years I have done everything from pop to jazz, from ambient to swing, from singer/songwriter to trip hop, from advertisement to cinema. I find the world is too colorful and life too multilayered to be tied down, and to be squeezed into one style drawer by some unimaginative label. I needed to tap into my versatility to discover which way I will choose for my solo career in the future. I needed to digest my past musical activities as creatively as possible. I have been influenced so much by my bilateral origin, my childlike curiosity and my excessive traveling and I strive to remain flexibly unbiased. I have had a lot of help on making a long-term dream finally come true and I would like to thank all the musicians for sharing my vision. You might call the album a compilation where my voice is the red tape that keeps it all together. Does that seem odd and confused to you? Tune in and you will find the concept works surprisingly well! Was ist schon eine gute Sängerin ohne einen guten Produzenten? Aus diesem Grund standen für mein Debüt viele Reisen an, um neue Produzenten kennen zulernen von denen ich einige nur als Compilation Nachbarn kannte. Mein Album wird ein Stilmix sein, denn seit meinem Karrierebeginn vor 15 Jahren habe ich alles Mögliche an Musik gemacht von Pop bis Jazz, von Ambient bis Swing, von Trip Hop bis Singer/Songwriter, von Filmmusik bis Werbung. Ich finde die Welt zu bunt und das Leben zu vielschichtig um von einem einfallslosen Label in eine Schublade gezwängt zu werden. Und so habe ich meine Vielseitigkeit angezapft um herauszufinden welchen Weg ich mit meiner Solokarriere einschlagen will. Ich will meine musikalische Vergangenheit verarbeiten um sie so kreativ wie möglich nutzen zu können. Ich wurde von meiner bilateralen Herkunft, meiner kindlichen Neugier und meinen vielen Reisen geprägt, und so ziehe ich es vor flexibel und weltoffen zu bleiben. Ich habe sehr viel Hilfe bei der Verwirklichung eines langjährigen Traumes gehabt und möchte all den Musikern und Produzenten danken die meine Vision teilen. Man könnte das Album auch eine Compilation nennen auf der meine Stimme der rote Faden ist, der alles zusammenhält. Klingt das seltsam und wirr? Erst mal reinhören, denn das Konzept geht erstaunlich gut auf! |

This Song was written with Naoki Kenji, with whom I did a small Russian Live tour in Russia in the beginning of 2006. Naoki has become a close friend and adviser. Mit Naoki Kenji verbindet mich mittlerweile eine gute Freundschaft und wir haben 2006 zusammen in Russland ein paar Live Auftritte gemacht. listen to song |

I traveled to Rome several times, once to work with Mystic Diversions on this Track but also enjoyed the Mike Francis Talent for introducing me to culinary highlights. Thanks for the Truffle Oil! Ich bin öfters nach Rom gefahren einmal um mit Mystic Diversions zu arbeiten und diesen Song zu schreiben. Nachhaltig beeindruckt hat mich allerdings auch die römische Küche die ich durch Mike Francis hautnah erleben durfte. Ich zehre heute noch von dem Trüffelöl, vielen Dank! listen to song |

Vienna is worth every trip especially when you can visit a Kaffeehaus with a bunch of Viennese gentlemen. I was very impressed by the savoir vivre and smart appearance of Gregor from Vienna DC. It was a pleasure working there. Was gibt es himmlischeres als mit einem Horde echter Wiener einen Kaffeehaus Besuch zu machen? Natürlich haben wir ein kleines bisserl gearbeitet, mein besonderer Dank geht an Gregor für seine unendliche Geduld beim “Stimmeveredeln. listen to song |

I have yet to meet Tchando because he is still only a voice on a hard disk for me, because Klaus Bau Jensen and Sebastian Lilja from Flipside came over to Berlin to record here. Tchando really inspired me though and the track is somehow heavenly. Tchando kenne ich leider immer noch nur als Stimme auf Sebastians Festplatte, dabei haben sein Geist und seine unvergleichliche Stimme mich sehr für diese Nummer beflügelt. Ich hoffe wir können uns irgendwann treffen. listen to song |

I did make quite a lot of kilometers for this album but my new Danish and Swedish friend, Klaus and Sebastian decided to come to Berlin and record in my flat. It was the first time I recorded in my own home and we had tremendous fun, singing this track on the sofa. Most of the sounds come from my kitchen, the beat for instance, is being kept by an olivewood mortar I usually use to make pesto. Obwohl ich viel auf Reisen war, haben mich für diesen und drei andere Tracks die Skandinavier Klaus und Sebastian in Berlin heimgesucht und aus meiner Wohnung zum ersten Mal ein Homerecording Studio gemacht. Wir hatten viel Spaß zusammen, haben auf der Couch musiziert und Klaus hat meinen Pestomörser aus Olivenholz zum Schlaginstrument umfunktioniert. listen to song |

This song was originally intended for a jeweler, but it’s so strong I’d hate to see it disappear in an In-House Advertisement. To B is an old friend from Heidelberg Days who has newly moved to Berlin. Welcome home! Dieser Song war eigentlich für einen Modeschmuckhersteller gedacht, ist aber viel zu schade um auf einer hausinternen CD zu versauern. To B ist ein alter Freund aus Heidelberger Tagen, der jetzt auch in Berlin angekommen ist. Herzlich Willkommen. |

Another Sofa Song with Klaus and Sebastian which will probably not be published because we have too many tracks for the album, but I love it very much and wouldn’t want to keep it from my listeners. Man did I have a cold, can you hear it? Noch ein Sofasong von Klaus und Sebastian. Dieser Song kommt wahrscheinlich nicht mit aufs Album denn wir haben schon genug, aber ich möchte ihn meinen Hörern nicht vorenthalten. Mann, war ich da erkältet, hört man das? |
